Cardiomyopathy & Heart Failure

Understanding the failing heart as a multicellular disease.

Overview

Our scientific focus

Cardiomyopathy has traditionally been viewed primarily as a disorder of cardiomyocytes. Our work investigates a broader model in which endothelial cells, cardiomyocytes, fibroblasts, immune cells, and the surrounding microenvironment interact to determine disease progression and recovery.

Our Approach

From human disease to mechanism.

We combine patient-derived and genome-engineered iPSCs with multicellular cardiac organoids, engineered tissues, single-cell and spatial profiling, and in vivo models. A major focus is defining vascular–myocardial signaling programs in LMNA cardiomyopathy and identifying pathways that can be therapeutically redirected.
